Why
did Chief Plenty Coups leave his home for all of us to share?
Many years ago, Chief Plenty Coups agreed to leave his home and the things in
it to be used in a museum. His house and the spring beside it were special to
him and to the Absaaloga people. He wanted to share how they lived with everyone.
His home, possessions and the sacred spring are now part of a state park
in Montana. The museum facility was built in 1972 and by Plenty Coups' direction
does not only tell the story of himself, Alakchia Ahoosh, but of the Absaaloga
people. From: Chief Plenty Coups State Park Museum Tour Content
