Famous
leaders all over the world knew Chief Plenty Coups. They considered him a great
chief of his people and respected him for how he worked with other leaders during
this time. Plenty Coups was known widely as a great leader of his people
as well as a statesman and a negotiator. With those abilities and what he felt
was spiritual guidance, he was able to negotiate very effectively with the leaders
of the world during his time. The museum at Pryor has letters, photographs and
documents from four different presidents to Plenty Coups. The allied commanders
of World War I recognized Chief Plenty Coups as an equal and a friend. These important
leaders, General Ferdinand Foch of France, General Diaz of Italy, General Pershing
of Great Britain and General Harbourd of the United States, were the combined
generals of the allied forces during World War I. By the same right, Plenty Coups
was considered a leader of this country and a leader of the world during his time.
